"What Goes Around" by Ty Ellender

What Goes Around is an advanced marimba solo that contains heavy, waltz-like melodies and chordal arpeggiations inspired by both classical and jazz music. This piece features polyrhythmic phrases, quick permutations, and long passages of octave melodies in the right hand. The main theme is centered around the concept of karma, which is musically portrayed throughout the composition, resulting in emotionally intense melodic phrases. What Goes Around was written for the album PUSHBACK and was performed for my final doctoral recital.
